Inherited characteristics

In the same way that you’ve inherited particular characteristics from your biological grandparents, all arthropods inherited a particular set of characteristics from their ancestor. Most arthropods display all five of these characteristics, so we can use these to determine which animals are arthropods. These arthropod characteristics include:
