Overview
In this 12-item multiple-choice evolution test, wrong answers are designed to tap into common student misconceptions. It can be used to diagnose evolution misconceptions related to natural selection and to assess the effectiveness of instruction in helping students overcome their misconceptions.

The items in this test can be used in many ways. If used as a pre-test, student responses can help guide your instruction to correct misconceptions. As a post-test, the instrument can be used to assess the effectiveness of instruction at addressing misconceptions. In addition, individual items can be used as assignments in which students are asked to explain why each possible answer is right or wrong. So that you can modify its structure, the instrument is also available as a Word document.
